Giving Back
to Franschhoek and Beyond
La Cotte Farm is built on a commitment to community, compassion, and meaningful impact. With over
80 permanent staff members, we support our team, their families, and the wider Franschhoek community through key partnerships in education, nutrition, and youth development, as well as support for animal welfare, elderly care, and local emergency services.
Our Community and Charity Partnerships
We are proud supporters of the Kusasa Project, which provides quality early childhood education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. By equipping learners with strong academic foundations, the programme gives them a head start before entering the formal school system thus paving the way for brighter futures.
Launched by renowned chef Margot Janse, the Isabelo Food Program tackles childhood hunger with nutritious meals delivered daily to local schools. A dedicated portion of La Cotte’s vegetable garden is cultivated specifically for this initiative, ensuring that fresh, healthy produce reaches the children who need it most.
The Franco Foundation works tirelessly to support children living in challenging environments, often impacted by poverty, malnutrition, substance abuse, or homelessness. La Cotte proudly hosts gala dinners and fundraising events to support the foundation’s work, helping to fund the vital efforts of social workers and therapists who provide care, guidance, and hope to vulnerable youth.
As strong believers in the power of education and opportunity, we are honoured to support the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy. This inspiring initiative uplifts historically disadvantaged local youth by equipping them with industry-ready hospitality skills and training.
Since 2018, over 380 students have graduated from the academy - with a remarkable 96% employed in the Cape Winelands and several continuing their journey abroad. Our fundraising efforts are currently focused on supporting the Class of 2026.
Our love for the land includes a deep respect for the animals who share it. We contribute to the SPCA and support Hands-On, a sanctuary for rescued animals. These organisations provide essential care, shelter, and sterilisation services to ensure the wellbeing of animals throughout the region
La Cotte Farm’s annual Open Garden Weekend is not just a celebration of our grounds, it’s also a meaningful fundraiser. Proceeds go directly to Fleur de Lis Retirement Home, supporting the elderly in our community, and to our local first medical responders, whose vital services depend entirely on public donations.
