Award‑Winning Mill House Patisserie in Africa’s Oldest Water Mill

La Cotte Mill House Patisserie is set in Africa's oldest water mill, a beautifully restored 1731 landmark on the hill at La Cotte Farm. This charming bakery and coffee spot combines historic stone walls, wooden beams and views of the original water wheel with the comforting aroma of freshly baked treats.

Pastry Chef Keshia Louw brings creativity and expertise to an exquisite array of confections, from delicate millefeuille and macarons to indulgent Basque cheesecake and strawberry tartlets. The artisanal bakery showcases crusty sourdough loaves, puffy ciabatta, buttery croissants and 100% rye sourdough, all baked on-site using stoneground flour and traditional mother culture for exceptional flavour and texture.

Guests can enjoy a mid-morning treat or a relaxed afternoon pick‑me‑up either in the cosy interior or on the stone stoep overlooking the farm and mountains.

Recognised for its excellence, the Mill House Patisserie has been awarded 2Luxe Awards’ Coffee Shop of the Year 2025 and Pastry Chef of the Year 2025.

Open daily from 8am to 3pm.

La Cotte Mill House is proud to hold the Luxe Restaurant Awards title of Coffee Shop of the Year, recognising its outstanding artisanal baking, specialty coffee and warm hospitality.
