Timeless Heritage Dining in La Cotte’s Historic 1836 Manor House Restaurant

Housed in the original Manor House built in 1836, the Heritage Restaurant at La Cotte is a celebration of time, taste and tradition. Georgian architecture, a Cape Dutch layout and bespoke interiors create an elegant, timeless setting, enriched by hand-painted wallpaper, evocative murals and ceramics by renowned local artist Michael Chandler. Guests can dine in the sun-dappled courtyard where bougainvillaea spills over whitewashed walls, or on the wide veranda shaded by ancient oaks, overlooking sweeping lawns, a formal garden and panoramic Franschhoek Valley views.

The light-filled Conservatory, framed by tall palms in Delft-blue pots, offers a serene space ideal for intimate gatherings and celebrations. In the kitchen, Chef Neethling du Toit and his team craft seasonal, heritage-inspired dishes with a refined contemporary twist, from sustainably sourced fish and pressed Karoo lamb to lighter plates like Franschhoek smoked trout, finished with indulgent desserts such as almond and orange cake with whipped cheesecake.

A carefully curated wine list showcases the best of the Franschhoek Valley – with a special focus on Semillon, Cap Classique, and La Cotte’s own signature house blends – perfectly paired to long, leisurely lunches in this historic Winelands setting.
